Webinar Series: Examining Organizational Support for Staff who Belong to Communities Experiencing Systemic Oppression.
This is a 2-part webinar series but participants are is not required to attend both parts.

Nov 10: “Leader or Loner” will assist participants with developing an understanding of the difference between valuing expertise and exploiting experience. Participants are invited to engage in dialogue and small group activities as we unpack what it means to center and support staff who belong to communities experiencing systemic oppression in order to shift the organizational approach of being responsive to a community need, but rather developing an institutionalized commitment to the community. And to critically examine if we are set up to terminate or perpetuate injustice when it comes to having "the one staff" that supports an entire community.

Nov 17: “Straddling the Line” acknowledges that many sexual assault and domestic violence agencies are making an effort to make brave and bold moves to be responsive to racial and social injustice within the movement. However, it often calls on the staff from communities experiencing systemic oppression to advocate for the very community they belong to. We will collaborate to build a "toolkit" for participants as they "straddle the line."

WCSAP will make every effort to fulfill accessibility requests, but may not be able to make arrangements with interpreters less than 3 weeks before the event.
